momix -- opts cactus

Busy weekend; feeling sick as i am getting/have a cold. Took the boys to see Momix at the burswood theatre. It was good if a little long. Maybe for the matinee sessions where there are a lot of children they could have editied it back to an hour, lost the intermission and had the more uptempo pieces. Having said that we did enjoy it and saw a lot of old beehivers. Half the school seemed to be there! I suppose Rose and I were thinking that it would have been more like the absolutely fantastic ISO dance theater that we saw a very long time ago. That had a much more taught, snappy delivery which the boys would probably have enjoyed more. The rest of the weekend involved a birthday party that Ben went to for his new friend Joshua, a BBQ on the river with the Yates family and helping Dad build the Kalamunda version of the Eiffel tower. I am quite exhausted....

ACO

Hmm forgot to report that we went to see the Australian Chamber Orchestra on wednesday night. They were, as always, excellent. Apart from a few issues to do with coins for parking, some uncomfortable pointy shoes and a cockroach we had a most enjoyable evening. The chick playing the piano had obviously been playing slightly longer than Ben. She did smile in a slightly scary manner but the Bach was great, especially her solo in Brandenburg #5. The Golijov was interesting and the TÜÜR was brilliant (a pity it wasn't longer -- it really ignited the Tognetti passion). I shall have to keep an eye out for his stuff...

Beer!!!

Well we bottled the home brew today so now we need to wait a couple of weeks to actually see if it is drinkable. It smelt alright and i spent an entertaining hour or so bashing the tops on with a hammer and didn't break one! I am seriously thinking of getting a tool for doing it if we do too much more. It wasn't that bad but it could get irritating quickly i suspect. We had a wide range of "interesting" bottles to put it in. I have used stubbies this time around and i think what i really needed was a lot of those 500mL bottles instead. I think a long neck is probably a bit much and by the time i pour off the sediment i suspect that the stubbies will be too small... On the topic of beer we had a great evening with some old Beehivers and i bought some Monty Python Holy Ale. Lindsay and I thought that it tasted a bit iffy and went on too an excellent Red wine instead (we did finish it off of course, the beer that is). Can't remember what the wine was but Linday and Sue, i worked out later, bought two bottles of wine and a bottle of Champagne... We also one of our whites and some other beers first... felt fine in the morning which i'm not sure is good or bad... I cooked something from Jamie Olivers web site for a change... Pork and Rhubarb which was very nice (if i don't say so myself). Sue was amused at Linday and myself swapping recipies... very snaggy. A great evening and the children did an amusing puppet theatre to top it all off!

Rain

Oh my goodness it is raining!!! About 10:30 and we have been babysitting and the "angel" has gone home and tidying up and it is raining! i expect that fellow who is leader of the liberal party (i actually can't remember his name... really; i'm sure if he had a personaility i would) is spitting chips because it probably means we don't need the canal!!! I luckily cimbed on the roof to check the box gutter as our builder, Bill, reminds me to do every time i see him and it seemed fine. It is waiting in anticipation of the twelve wheelbarrow loads of olives that are about to decend out of the tree into it. Spent most of the day tiding up and putting a lot of junk away then arcing up the home brew kit that i got for my birthday. It describes it's self as a "draught brewed to satisfy a mean australian thrirst". So i am not sure if it will work for a 20% scotsman/80% aussie that likes fancy pansie beers but as long as it has alcohol in it we are onto a winner!!!! i will let you know how it goes.

No show from Elle...

Well we had a nice lunch. Elle failed to show up but a Juliette Binoche lookalike came and had lunch with nick an i. She was gorgeous. The parrots were destroying the trees above our heads which was amusing. If you didn't make it nevermind we are going to try again next week with JG and SB in attendance... Keep checking the blog out...

And on that note found a very amusing blog by accident; you just have to look at http://ihatemyflatmate.blogspot.com/
