Contrasts

The boys have been enthusiastically watching Top Gear, the UK motoring show that is on SBS on Monday Nights. We have discovered that YouTube has lots of old episodes (even ones that haven't made it here yet) that involve Jeremy Clarkson blowing up cars he doesn't like. It is all pretty silly but quite good entertainment. It seems to have replaced MythBusters as the geeky TV viewing of choice! Anyway i seriously doubt Clakeson would like our Volvo (not very Bling) but he might have some affection for the Morris (pity we don't still have it...). What i really need is a Koenigsegg though! A chap at work has just bought a Prius, the hybrid car that is sold by Toyota. Clarkson doesn't like that either!

No This is No Bad Dream! Things are Not what they seem!

Well lots of stuff happening and not much time to be Blogging! Friday a week ago I went with Janet to see Roger Walters in Concert and it was amazing! I really enjoyed the concert, which was very slick and very well done. It is hard to believe that it is 20 years since I went to see the other 3 Pink Floyd members when they were touring their version of Pink Floyd. The next day was my Birthday and I got a new watch, claw hammer and screwdriver. In the afternoon we went to see our old house, which was a bit sad as it has been rented for the seven years since we were living there and the garden is pretty dead and the smell of smoke in the house was horrible. Had tea in Northbridge with Paul and Eugene and then saw their dog, a greyhound called Elle! On Friday we had the floor in the hall finished off and it looks great! It has only been four years since we had the extension done and it has been concrete since then so it is nice to see the house slowly coming to completion. We got a letter from Western Power telling us that we needed to cut the Olive tree at the back, again! It is a bit rich when Western Power contract out the checking to the same company that will come and do the trimming and then charge you an exorbident amount! I cut off a lot this time so hopefully next year we won't need to do too much. The picture is the cover of Ben's Birthday card. I love the computer and all the wires, looks a lot like by cube at work! What Pink Floyd song is the lyric from? One of my favourite Flyd tracks and Roger played it!!

Three Days Left...

On our last afternoon in Victoria we walked into town and saw this rather excellent exhibition of old moving pictures and some very clever modern illusions. It was on at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in the rather cool Federation Square. It dosen't end till Sunday so if you have the opertunity check it out...

A Day in the Garden

Not really sure where time goes to these days. I can't believe that it is a year since we waved goodbye to the Morris. I was going to post a picture of it but i am too lazy to pull out the backup hard disk and rummage through it. I should do it so that i can back up all the photographs since November! This was about the best that my recent ones have to offer. I wish that i could say that the beer was nice but it needs to be very cold to drink... It was an attempt to do a good Czech Pilsner, just like the ones (lots really) that i have drunk in the depths of Southern Bohemia. Didn't really work, and that is the 3rd attempt at that style of beer that really hasn't flown so i think that i will stick to the Porters and heavier brews which have been really good.

My brother was pointing out some of the more interesting spelling (especially of Coal as Cole, well he is a mining engineer so it probably means more to him) and i did remind that there is a ambit disclaimer to all spelling and grammar on the grounds that i am an electronics enginner and as such can't be expected to spell... (see very first Blog post) can't even get Engineer right... better stop now...

Old House

While reading the paper during the weekend i noticed that our old house is on the market! There are even some photographs on the net. Wish that we had sold it for the current asking price. It's pretty amazing that the prices has gone up by about x2.5 in just 7 years!
