Fremantle is currently hosting an exhibition of Artistic Noise making as part of the
Totally Huge New Music Festival. The Festival has other components but part of it is in the Moores building in Freo and is a somewhat eclectic collection of artistic installations and
things that make sound. Rose and I went on Sunday morning and I dragged a few of the chaps from work down at lunchtime. By far the most popular work was
Quint de Loup by Nigel Helyer. It consists of various plastic objects that have a thermin in them (this is a musical device where the pitch is controlled be proximity to their antenna). The objects are patterned on aquatic animals and a very cleverly made.
